7-aminocephalosporanic acid
7-ami·no·ceph·a·lo·spo·ran·ic ac·id (ə-me″no-sef″ə-lo-spor-anґik) the active nucleus of the semisynthetic cephalosporins, structurally related to the penicillin nucleus (6-aminopenicillanic acid) and obtained by hydrolysis of cephalosporin C; modification of positions 3 and 7 of this nucleus results in antibiotics with a variety of antibacterial and pharmacologic characteristics.
