An antiarrhythmic agent used in control of ventricular and supraventricular arrhythmias. Can cause significant and distinctive pulmonary toxicity.

ami·o·da·rone hy·dro·chlo·ride (ə-meґo-də-rōn″) a potassium channel blocking agent that prolongs the action potential duration and refractory period of all cardiac fibers; administered orally or by intravenous infusion in the treatment and prophylaxis of ventricular arrhythmias.
