1. diminutive stellate cells found chiefly in the granular layers of the cerebral and cerebellar cortices. 2. small nerve cells without axons, whose bodies are in the granular layer of the olfactory bulb; they have many dendrites that synapse with dendrites of mitral and tufted cells and probably act as dampers.
