vestibular hair cells

vestibular hair cells
hair cells found in the maculae of the utricle and saccule, serving as sensory receptors responsive to changes in position; they regulate the sense of equilibrium by sending impulses up the vestibular nerve to the brain. There are two types of these hair cells: type I cells are flask-shaped and type 2 cells are tubular.
