Cochliomyia hominivorax

Cochliomyia hominivorax
the screw-worm fly, a bluish green fly that deposits its eggs during the warmest hours of the day on wounds of animals; the larvae, known as screw-worms, after hatching, burrow into the wound and feed on living tissue. Called also C. americana and Chrysomyia macellaria.
