hemorrhagic colitis
a usually afebrile diarrheal disease caused by Escherichia coli serovar O157:H57, characterized by abdominal cramping and watery diarrhea that progresses to bloody diarrhea after one or two days; it is generally self-limited but may be complicated by hemolytic-uremic syndrome.
