an·i·sa·ki·a·sis (an″ĭ-sə-kiґə-sis) infection with a nematode of the family Anisakidae. Human infection is usually caused by third-stage larvae of the genera Anisakis and Pseudoterranova, which are eaten in undercooked infected marine fish (e.g., herring); the larvae then burrow into the stomach wall, producing an eosinophilic granulomatous mass. Called also eosinophilic granuloma.
