cow·age (kouґəj) 1. Mucuna pruriens. 2. the hairs of the pods of M. pruriens, used medicinally as a vermifuge, anthelmintic, and counterirritant mixed with such vehicles as honey; on the skin they can cause a type of allergic contact dermatitis. Also used as “itching powders” of joke-shop fame.
