despecification
de·spe·ci·fi·ca·tion (de-spes″ĭ-fĭ-kaґshən) the process of reducing the antigenicity of heterologous antisera used therapeutically, by treating them with enzymes such as pepsin to remove the antigenic Fc regions of the immunoglobulin molecules. This leaves F(ab′)2 fragments which contain both antigen binding regions of each immunoglobulin molecule.
