double diffusion in two dimensions

double diffusion in two dimensions
double diffusion in which antigen and antiserum are placed in wells cut in an agar plate; antigen solutions to be compared are placed in wells equidistant from the antiserum well. Three principal types of reaction may occur, reaction of identity, reaction of nonidentity, and reaction of partial identity (see under reaction), each identified by a characteristic pattern of precipitin lines, indicating the extent to which the antigen samples a share antigenic determinants. Called also Ouchterlony technique.
