Meckel diverticulum

Meckel diverticulum
an occasional sacculation or appendage of the ileum, derived from an unobliterated yolk stalk and sometimes attached to the umbilicus. If its mucosa includes gastric tissue, ulceration and bleeding may occur. Called also ileal d. and d. ilei.
