caudal eminence

caudal eminence
a taillike eminence produced by a proliferating mass of mesodermal cells at the caudal end of the early vertebrate embryo; it is the remnant of the primitive node and the precursor of hindgut, adjacent notochord and somites, and the caudal part of the spinal cord. Called also end or tail bud.
