entacapone
en·tac·a·pone (en-takґə-pōn) a selective, reversible inhibitor of catechol O-methyltransferase, the enzyme mainly responsible for levodopa metabolism in the brain and periphery in the presence of carbidopa; used in conjunction with levodopa and carbidopa to enhance dopaminergic stimulation of the brain and the antiparkinsonian activity of levodopa in the treatment of idiopathic Parkinson disease, administered orally.
