pseudomembranous enterocolitis

pseudomembranous enterocolitis
an acute type with formation of pseudomembranous plaques that overlie superficial ulcerations and pass out in the feces; it may result from shock, ischemia, or aftereffects of antibiotic therapy (see antibiotic-associated e.). Called also pseudomembranous colitis or enteritis.
