Sindbis fever

Sindbis fever
an epidemic-endemic febrile disease caused by infection with Sindbis virus, an alphavirus that has its normal reservoir in birds and is transmitted to humans by mosquitoes of the genus Culex. It has been observed in a belt from eastern Africa (South Africa to Egypt) across to Australia, as well as in Scandinavia. Symptoms include macular rash and arthritis.
