ganglion superius nervi glossopharyngei
[TA] superior ganglion of glossopharyngeal nerve: the upper of two ganglia on the glossopharyngeal nerve as it passes through the jugular foramen; it contains cell bodies for some of the afferent fibers of the nerve. Called also jugular g. of glossopharyngeal nerve, rostral g. of glossopharyngeal nerve, and g. rostralis nervi glossopharyngei. See also g. inferius nervi glossopharyngei.
