glandulae thyroideae accessoriae
[TA] accessory thyroid glands: small exclaves of the thyroid gland, found along the course of the thyroglossal duct and elsewhere; types (named for their locations) include intrathoracic thyroid, lingual thyroid, suprahyoid thyroid, and retrosternal thyroid. Called also aberrant thyroids and prehyoid glands.
