congenital glaucoma

congenital glaucoma
a form of glaucoma that may be fully developed at birth or may develop later, up to two or three years of age; characteristics are enlargement and hazing of the corneas, resulting from inability of the cornea and sclera to withstand the increased intraocular pressure. Called also infantile g., buphthalmos, and hydrophthalmos. Cf. juvenile g.
