glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (phosphorylating)

glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (phosphorylating)
glyc·er·al·de·hyde-3-phos·phate de·hy·dro·gen·ase (phos·phor·y·lat·ing) (glis″ər-alґdə-hīd fosґfāt de-hiґdro-jən-ās fos-forґə-lātґing) [EC 1.2.1.12] an enzyme of the oxidoreductase class that catalyzes the phosphorylation of glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate, one of two reactions by which high-energy phosphate is generated in the Embden-Meyerhof pathway. Abbreviated GAPD. (See illustration under pathway.) Called also triosephosphate dehydrogenase.
