guanine deaminase
gua·nine de·am·i·nase (gwahґnēn de-amґĭ-nās) [EC 3.5.4.3] an enzyme of the hydrolase class that catalyzes the deamination of guanine to form xanthine. The reaction is a step in the degradation of guanine to uric acid. The enzyme is present in liver, kidney, spleen, and other tissues. Called also guanase.
