plasma iron clearance half-time
the time required for half of the iron in the blood plasma at a given time to be removed, determined by administering radioactive iron-59 bound to the patient's own transferrin and calculating the slope of the best-fit line to a semilogarithmic plot of the amount of plasma radioactive iron over time.
