horse·rad·ish (horsґrad-ish) 1. Armoracia lapathifolia. 2. any of several other plants of the family Cruciferae resembling A. lapathifolia. 3. the pungent root of one of these plants, used as a condiment and appetite stimulant; in the past it was used as a rubefacient and plaster like mustard, because it contains sinigrin.
