L-iditol 2-dehydrogenase
L-idi·tol 2-de·hy·dro·ge·nase (iґdĭ-tol de-hiґdro-jən-ās) [EC 1.1.1.14] an enzyme of the oxidoreductase class that catalyzes the oxidation of L-iditol to L-fructose, using NAD+ as an electron acceptor; the enzyme also acts on some other sugar alcohols. The enzyme occurs in significant quantities only in the liver; increased activity in serum is used as an indicator of parenchymal liver damage. Called also sorbitol dehydrogenase.
