in·di·go·tin·di·sul·fon·ate so·di·um (in″dĭ-go″tin-di-sulґfo-nāt) [USP] a dye, occurring as a dusky, purplish blue powder or blue granules; used as a diagnostic aid in cystoscopy and other studies of the urinary tract; administered intravenously. Called also indigo carmine, indicarmine, and soluble indigo blue.
