(SNRI) any of a group of compounds that limit the reabsorption of serotonin and norepinephrine by blocking their transporter proteins, acting also weakly on dopamine, and thereby potentiating neurotransmitter activity in the central nervous system; used in the treatment of depression and other affective disorders, as well as anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, and chronic neuropathic pain.
