Munro microabscess

Munro microabscess
a small focal collection of pyknotic polymorphonuclear leukocytes within the parakeratotic portion of the stratum corneum. It is a cardinal sign of active psoriasis and is also found in other dermatoses such as seborrheic dermatitis. Called also Munro abscess. Cf. spongiform pustule.

Munro microabscesses, together with marked epidermal hyperplasia and parakeratotic scale, within the superficial epidermal layers in psoriasis.
