Heberden nodes

Heberden nodes
small hard nodules, formed usually at the distal interphalangeal joints of the fingers, produced by calcific spurs of the articular cartilage and associated with interphalangeal osteoarthritis. Heredity is an important etiologic factor. Such nodules in the proximal interphalangeal nodes are called Bouchard nodes. Called also Heberden sign.
