Groups are the nuclei anteriores thalami, nuclei dorsales thalami, nuclei mediales thalami, nuclei mediani thalami, nuclei intralaminares thalami, nuclei posteriores thalami, and nuclei ventrales thalami. The nucleus reticularis thalami and nucleus subthalamicus are also thalamic nuclei.
