vertical overlap
extension of the incisal ridges of the maxillary anterior teeth below the incisal ridges of the mandibular anterior teeth when the jaws are in centric occlusion. Cf. micrognathia. Called also overbite or over bite and vertical overbite. 2. the distance that the teeth lap over their antagonists. 3. the relationship of the maxillary incisors to the mandibular incisors when the incisal edges pass each other in centric occlusion.
