pars basilaris pontis
[TA] basilar part of pons: the part of the pons connecting the cerebrum, cerebellum, and medulla oblongata. It is a broad transverse band that arches across the anterior surface of the superior end of the rhombencephalon; on each side it narrows to enter the cerebellum as the middle cerebellar peduncle. It comprises longitudinal fibers originating at the cerebral cortex, transverse fibers, and the pontine nuclei.
