Pasteurella multocida

Pasteurella multocida
a species that is part of the normal flora of the mouth and respiratory tract of many species of mammals and birds; several different biovars and serovars are recognized. In animals it causes hemorrhagic septicemias, pneumonia, local abscesses, and intestinal disease. Human disease is usually from infection of a cat or dog bite or scratch, with localized swelling, abscesses, bronchiectasis, pneumonia, meningitis, and septicemia.
