lipoxygenase pathway

lipoxygenase pathway
a pathway for the formation of leukotrienes and hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acids from arachidonic acid. It is initiated by oxidation of arachidonic acid by arachidonate lipoxygenases, and the reactions occur in the cytosol of leukocytes, mast cells, platelets, and lung tissue cells.

Lipoxygenase pathway of leukotriene and hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid synthesis. HPETE, hydroperoxyeicosatetraenoic acid; HETE, hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid; LT, leukotriene.
