plegaphonia

pleg·a·pho·nia (pleg″ə-foґne-ə) [Gr. plēgē stroke + aphonia] auscultation of the chest during percussion over the larynx or trachea in cases in which the patient cannot or is not allowed to speak. The vibrations produced by the percussion take the place of those of the vocal cords.
