maxillofacial prosthetics
the branch of prosthodontics concerned with anatomic, functional, and cosmetic reconstruction by means of synthetic substitutes of those regions of the maxilla, mandible, and face that have been damaged, absent, or malformed due to illness, injury, congenital defects, or surgical intervention. Called also facial p. See also under prosthesis.
