sphingolipid activator protein
(SAP) any of a group of nonenzyme lysosomal proteins that stimulate the actions of specific lysosomal hydrolases by binding and solubilizing their sphingolipid substrates; it includes the saposins and GM2 activator protein (qq.v.).
