recessus ellipticus vestibuli
[TA] elliptical recess of the vestibule: an oval depressed area in the roof and medial wall of the vestibule of the internal ear, situated above and behind the crista and pierced by 25 to 30 small foramina through which nerves come from the internal acoustic meatus to the utricle, which occupies the depression. Called also r. utricularis vestibuli [TA alternative].
