chylomicron remnants

chylomicron remnants
partially metabolized chylomicrons that have lost most of their triglycerides via degradation in muscle and adipose tissue but retain their cholesteryl esters; they reenter the bloodstream and are taken up into hepatic cells via receptor-mediated endocytosis. Within the liver, they are digested and their cholesteryl esters cleaved to generate free cholesterol.
