schedule of reinforcement

schedule of reinforcement
a series of rules governing the delivery or nondelivery of reinforcement; it may occur after every response (continuous reinforcement) or not (partial reinforcement). In partial reinforcement, delivery may occur after predetermined amounts of time (intervals) or numbers of responses (ratios), either of these being unvarying (fixed) or changing (variable), e.g., a fixed-interval s. or a variable ratio s.
