schistosomiasis intercalatum
an endemic intestinal disease of Central and West Africa due to infection by flukes of the species Schistosoma intercalatum, with abdominal pain, diarrhea in which the feces may contain blood and mucus, hyperplasia of the mucosa of the rectal valves, inflammation of the rectal walls, and sometimes polyposis.
