serine C-palmitoyltransferase

serine C-palmitoyltransferase
ser·ine C-pal·mi·to·yl·trans·fer·ase (sērґēn pahl″mĭ-to″əl-transґfər-ās) [EC 2.3.1.50] an enzyme of the transferase class that catalyzes the condensation of palmitoyl CoA and L-serine to yield 3-dehydrosphinganine, with pyridoxal phosphate as a cofactor, as the first step in sphingolipid biosynthesis.
