A benign, chronic, small, painful nodule (or nodules) on the helix of the ear in the elderly, which may occasionally become ulcerated and results from habitually sleeping on the affected side.

chondrodermatitis nodularis helicis a small, painful, scaly, nodular lesion on the helix of the ear, colored skin color, grayish, or translucent; it is seen most often in middle-aged men, and multiple lesions may occur on one ear. Called also Winkler disease.
