Donath-Landsteiner test

Donath-Landsteiner test
(for paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria) a test based on the fact that the blood of patients with this disease contains complement-dependent iso- and autohemolysin (Donath-Landsteiner antibody) which unites with red cells only at low temperatures (2° to 10°C), hemolysis occurring only after warming to 37°C.
