trigonum lumbale superius
[TA] superior lumbar triangle: an inconstant triangle or rhombus bounded by the twelfth rib and the serratus posterior inferior, erector spinae, and internal oblique muscles, and overlapped by the latissimus dorsi and the external oblique, with the thoracolumbar fascia as its floor. When present it is sometimes a site through which abscesses point or hernias occur.
