tyrosine transaminase

tyrosine transaminase
ty·ro·sine trans·am·i·nase (tiґro-sēn trans-amґĭ-nās) [EC 2.6.1.5] an enzyme of the transferase class that catalyzes the transamination of tyrosine to form the keto acid p-hydroxyphenylpyruvate as the first step in the catabolism of tyrosine. Deficiency of the enzyme, an autosomal recessive trait, causes tyrosinemia, type II.
