ubiquinol–cytochrome-c reductase

ubiquinol–cytochrome-c reductase
ubi·qui·nol–cy·to·chrome-c re·duc·tase (u″bĭ-kwĭ-nolґ siґto-krōm rĕ-dukґtās) [EC 1.10.2.2] an enzyme complex of the inner mitochondrial membrane that catalyzes the transfer of electrons from ubiquinol to cytochrome c, oxidizing the former and reducing the latter in a reaction of the electron transport chain (q.v.). The enzyme contains cytochromes b and c1> and iron-sulfur prosthetic groups and is associated with proton translocation and the resultant synthesis of ATP. Called also ubiquinol dehydrogenase.
