uropod

uropod
uro·pod (uґro-pod) [Gr. oura tail + pous, gen. podos foot] the cytoplasmic footlike process that trails behind locomoting leukocytes; the term is used particularly of lymphocytes, in which the trailing process and large nucleus produce a characteristic “hand mirror” shape. The uropod serves as a point of attachment to the substrate and may also be involved in cell-cell interactions.
