transurethral vaporization of prostate
(TUVP) destruction of hyperplastic prostatic tissue using an electrode introduced through the urethra. The leading edge of the electrode uses high heat to cause vaporization of tissue, and the trailing edge uses lower heat to cause coagulation-induced desiccation of tissue.
