echo·thi·o·phate io·dide (ek″o-thi″o-fāt) [USP] an anticholinesterase agent applied topically to the conjunctiva to produce miosis, reduce intraocular pressure, and potentiate accommodation in the treatment of open-angle glaucoma, closed-angle glaucoma after iridectomy, and certain secondary types of glaucoma, and in the management of accommodative esotropia.
