go·nado·troph (go-nadґo-trōf) 1. a basophil of the adenohypophysis whose granules secrete follicle-stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone. Called also delta basophil, delta cell, and gonadotrope or gonadotropic cell. 2. a substance that stimulates the gonads.
