leu·ko·tome (looґko-tōm) [leuko- + -tome] a neurosurgical tool consisting of a rigid shaft along which runs a thin metallic wire, formed into a loop at one end; the tool is inserted through a bur hole into the skull and rotated about its axis to cut tissue.
